Tattoo Artist and Fine Artist
RICARDO
LOPEZ CAMACHO
Bio
Ricardo Lopez is a Mexican American artist based in Northern California, blending his roots in figurative abstraction and painting with tattooing. He holds a Master’s in Art from California State University, Sacramento (2020), and his work explores themes of fragmentation in form, space, and time, evident in both his canvas and tattoo compositions.
Lopez's tattoo style combines stippled black-and-gray realism with abstract deconstruction, creating imagery that feels suspended between dissolution and reassembly. His designs feature blurred human forms, botanical elements, and ornamental patterns, reflecting the impermanence of memory and the fluidity of identity.
Drawing from his painting background, Lopez views stippling as a tactile process that enhances the physicality of skin. Each dot serves as a deliberate mark, adding depth and movement. His work often includes mirrored and collaged forms, inviting viewers to see the body as an ever-shifting entity. Each tattoo becomes an artifact of transformation, etched into flesh.
